Wednesday, November 18 - Percival Everett
My guest today at 2:30 pm is the writer Percival Everett. He is the author of novels and short stories, including The Water Cure, Wounded and Erasure, and his work has been featured in the Pushcart Prize anthology and Best American Short Stories, among other honors.Everett’s work is characterized by wit, play, and the exploration of philosophical tropes, and his satirical take on politics, class and race has been compared favorably to Richard Wright and Kurt Vonnegut. If you don’t know Everett’s oevre, you might immediately warm to it just by virtue of a book’s title, as say the earlier novel, A History of the African-American People (Proposed) by Strom Thurmond, as told to Percival Everett & James Kincaid. Thanks for listening, live or archived on KPFK's website.
